this is an excellent Chinese restaurant it has very good food. we had not been here in 20 years but the food was better than before and the prices were lower or about the same. The atmosphere is relaxing the tea is soothing there is a lunch special only 6 1/2 dollars for a sizeable entrée Rice and your choice of soup. The hot and sour was spicy hot fresh and delicious. parking is free and the restaurant is located right off of the intersection of Route 420 and route 95 and is convenient both to locals those in Philadelphia and to tourists looking for a place to eat on their way to visit the Liberty Bell. Da Chen is a winner Moo Goo Gai Pan dinner!

One night, I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, shrimp lo mein (as previously mentioned) and wonton soup from Da Chen hoping it would cure whatever sickness I had. (I'm convinced that Chinese food has magical healing powers.) My boyfriend raved about this place, so I was curious to see how good it really was. Other than surprising me with water chestnuts in their [dry] shrimp lo mein (sadly not something you see very much anymore), Da Chen offers pretty standard Chinese food. Everything was just okay. Pretty typical. Nothing major to report!

As a kid, we ate here all the time. The food was always good and the ambiance was nice. In recent years, the food is mediocre at best and the place smells of mildew. The last time I was here, I got very sick afterwards. I'm not sure if it was the food, heat or just general pregnancy issues but I was feeling fine earlier in the day. I hope they clean up their act and get back to what they used to be. I'd really love to write a positive review for them!

They have the best sesame shrimp & vegetable fried rice. The staff is always pleasant!

This is my husband's absolute favorite Chinese place, EVER. Neither of us eat meat, but he makes an exception for their Kung Pao Chicken, which is the best he's ever had. I usually get the shrimp lo mein or one of the bean curd dishes, and it's definitely good food. Not authentic Chinese that you'd have in China, probably, but a good value for the money. The restaurant is neat and clean, and the service is attentive and very fast. This is a good place to bring your family for a nice night out.

average friendly chinese restaurant with a large menu of ordinary cuisine. the decor was outdated and the place was pretty empty ( it was dinner time) the first time i went. plenty of parking. I'd rather go to pei wei then Da Chen. I'm sure some of the dishes are excellent but this place isn't worth me tearing through the entire menu to find them. Sorry, DC, you are off my radar.

Our family's favorite Chinese restaurant. They have a fine selection of Chinese favorites as well as many not so common dishes such as egg plant in garlic sauce or shredded pork with wood ear mushrooms. They also have a daily dinner special that is both inventive and interesting. The dinning area is relatively spacious and well decorated. The service has always been attentive and fast. One thing to keep in mind - the restaurant was originally a Mexican restaurant and the outside has a Spanish motif so don't be concerned when you pull in. This is a BYOB and accepts credit cards. They also do a great job with take out food - everything is ready in 5 minute.

I eat at Da Chen regularly. Their lunch specials are excellent and such a great price. My family also loves it here. The staff is also very friendly and very accomidating when people are paying with multiple credit cards. it is true that the decor could be revamped a bit, but I've never had a bad experience here.

It pains me to say that I can only base my review on one dish that I used to always get from this place. The sesame shrimp used to be my favorite dish here. The shrimp had a sesame flavored crunch to it. It comes with broccoli and I always opt for the brown rice. I say that the dish used to be my favorite because the last time I ordered it, it was far from great. The shrimp was incredibly soggy and the sesame seeds were almost nonexistent. This was about a month ago. I haven't been there since. If they would've maintained consistency, I would've given them four stars. Maybe I'll be brave enough to give them another shot and provide an updated review.

Over a year of living in DelCo and we are still on a mission to find some decent Chinese food. We tried Da Chen this past weekend and weren't as let down as we have been with the other joints we've tried. The fried pork dumplings were really good. They weren't too dough-y, or too greasy, and the pork inside tasted great. The sauce that came with them was perfect. The eggrolls were also realllllly good. They were filled with shrimp and other delectable treats. I hate when eggrolls are nothing but fried up veggies, and these did not disappoint. I ended up getting the Kung Pao chicken, which was only OK. There were way, way, way, way, WAY too many peanuts in this dish. Plus, I really didn't need the random celery that was in the dish. I had to pick a lot of shit out before I could eat it. Once I did, though, it tasted fine. Mildly spicy, good chicken. My husband enjoyed his chicken and broccoli and said that the broccoli was lightly steamed and still retained a lot of crunch (he loved that, I would have hated it!). The bill came to $26.00, and for two entrees, two containers of rice, eggrolls, and the dumplings. I think that's pretty darn good for the amount of food we got. I think we'll give this place another chance. Now that I've had my go-to Chinese take-out staples I think I'll try something a little more adventurous.

Friendly, reliable service. They remember our food preferences and allergies. Spicy wontons are peanutty and have a slow burn. We like the shrimp dishes here.

This is our go to Chinese Restaurant in Delco. Food is consistent and take out is easy. We have been going here for years and have no complaints. One household member always gets the Honey Walnut Shrimp with no regrets.

Have been going here for years.By FAR the BEST Chinese restaurant in the area.We had the Bao-bao Platter,(an appetizer for 2) which consists of shrimp toast, fan tail shrimp, spareribs, skewered beef, fried wonton,&springroll) Also had shrimp/pork egg roll & steamed dumplings. We've also had Mu shu pork. The food was delicious! Nothing oily & old (as occurs in many places), what should've been crisp on the outside & tender on the inside actually was, the spareribs were amazing, the skewered beef was SO tender & good, fantail shrimp so good, eggrolls-again-super,& steamed dumplings were fantastic (my husband VERY choosy bout his dumplings).Everything was wonderful.Too bad they don't do any deliveries part time, otherwise we'd eat there more often. The staff is so kind & accomodating too & this restaurant is immaculate. If you love Chinese food - check out Da-Chen. You won't be sorry!

We've been eating here for 20+ years and this place is the real deal - and of a dying breed. We drive down from Valley Forge to eat here as it's the only authentic old school Chinese place we've found. Most are either bad, no-frills, or fru-fru over priced and still mediocre. Da Chen serves you a lot of hot tea and a bowl of fried wonton skins, a rare extra these days. Everything I've had has been excellent, especially the basics like egg rolls and wonton soup - staples that most places today can't make properly. Try Da Chen and you'll be hooked too.

Good food, prices cheaper then most locally. I prefer their shrimp pad thai extra spicy, and trust me you get a lot compared to most place around here that give you 2-3 shrimp and a handful of noodles, this place packs the dish with lots of shrimp. I'm always please walking out of here.

So about two years ago, I came here for the first time. My first visit, I thought it was wonderful. I raved about the Sesame Chicken. I became a fan. I've had more than enough meals here now. And I've had more than enough meals from other Chinese places locally since then. So now I have some more perspective on how good this place is. As I look at it now, three stars is about right. I've generally had decent meals here. The wonton soup and egg rolls are as good as any. My wife enjoys their Kung Pao Chicken. I like their Orange Chicken which has good orange peel flavor in it but not much spice. But, every now and then they make something that is just OK. I remember ordering the Rainbow Chicken thinking it was going to be a taste feast, and it would up being just half decent. I'll go there again. I consider them better than many of the local take out places. I have to think that a lot of locals are probably inconvenienced by the fact that they don't deliver. They're pretty good, if not totally memorable.

The Gen Tso's chicken is the best around. Great food, I do alot of take out from here. The atmosphere is nice too if you want to dine in.

Alright service with mediocre food. Must Haves: -N/A Pros: -Ok service and a lot of seating Cons: -Food is substandard Quick Tips: -Don't come I came for a group luncheon. The server was polite and fast. However, the sauces were, in my opinion overly starchy. Also, some of my vegetables were a bit old. The food is forgettable. Mediocre service and food makes this place forgettable.

Terrible food and way overpriced. For general tso chicken and an egg roll it was nearly $12. The chicken was so bland and had no heat to it whatsoever. I wouldn't go back. Very disappointing.

I was a little apprehensive when we walked into this place tonight, as there were no other customers inside. The first thing I noticed was the cute decoration. The place was very clean as well. My Philly tour guide and my two associates decided on Chinese during our ride back from Atlantic City... and it turns out we made a pretty good choice. We placed orders for 4 entrees, which we passed around family style. The sweet and sour chicken was tasty, the spicy orange been was delicious, the twice cooked pork had a great consistency, and the chicken pad thai was tasty, with a hint of licorice (which was a little strange but still good) The service was impeccable, and the food came up fairly fast. I've had better Chinese, but this was well worth the 3 stars, and I'd come back again. BYOB welcome.

Not overly impressed, found China Wok nearby to be better food at a better value. Maybe it was just 1 bad experience with the shrimp lo mein but that was enough for me.

I love Chinese food, even the Americanized versions. Overall, I was very unimpressed. The food was bland and boring. To be on the safe side I ordered the chicken broccoli. The sauce was watery and the taste was dull and uninspiring. To try something more traditional I got the Mapo tofu. I usually get this to gauge how good the restaurant is at cooking a traditional food item. Bad choice!!! It seemed to be plain tofu with bottle chili sauce heated together. Now when something so common and Americanized like chicken broccoli tastes bad, and something so traditionally Chinese tastes bad, there literally is nothing going for them. I suspect the chef must actually be just a cook, no skills, no training, and uninspired. This place caters to the unsuspecting ignorant American. I gave them 2 stars because they're quick (probably because they weren't very busy).

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
